Welcome to Susie Harrison's virtual gallery.
Below is work started in early 2020 and examples of an on-going series of works on paper that I have been doing during the Covid pandemic. Many of these works are sourced from my sketchbooks's India ink drawings that I then manipulate digitally. In all of the work, you will see my love of texture, color and structure and my exploration of improvisation and automatic drawing. Drawing daily and letting myself simply be in the moment has been an objective. Making marks in a fluid, spontaneous and rapid manner has also been a focus. Drawing through and over my ugly marks, and transforming the ill-conceived and wobbly lines of my tired hands into whole compositions that embrace the awkward and dysfunctional, along with the dynamic, and balanced is a ongoing aspiration.
My last show was at Pyro Gallery in April 2023 and featured 10" x 10" relief prints layered with contrasting imagery from multiple carved blocks. .
Feel free to contact me at sharrisonreid@icloud.com if you have questions.
